On May 24, 2023 (Wednesday), the labor and management of Seoyeon E-Hwa Ulsan Plant held a “Movie Day for People with Disabilities” event in collaboration with Buk-gu Office and Buk-gu Volunteer Center. Daily life that we take for granted may be something special for others. In reality, it is not easy for people with disabilities to watch a movie without help from those around them. With this in mind, the company planned the “Movie Day Event,” intending to present a special day for people with disabilities in the region to escape from their inconvenient daily life and enjoy watching a movie for the day. The event was attended by 80 people with disabilities and hearing impairments from four special schools and welfare facilities: Eoullim, Anayul, Meari, and the Association on Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. The cost of the event was covered by the remaining balance after refunding the last manager’s mutual aid membership fee. This made the event more meaningful with the warm heart of the Seoyon E-Hwa staff.
The company rented one entire cinema hall for the Movie Day event so that people with disabilities could watch movies in a more comfortable environment. The company also provided popcorn and drinks so that they could enjoy the film with more fun. In addition, the labor and management of Seoyeon E-Hwa’s Ulsan Plant did their best to ensure that the event ended safely and pleasantly by “serving as assistants” by leading people to the cinema, guiding seats, guiding washrooms, and supporting unexpected situations while watching movies.
Before the screening of the film, they watched a video of Seoyeon E-Hwa Ulsan Plant’s labor and management’s previous social contribution activities. The company also expressed its commitment to continue warm companionship with the local underprivileged with social responsibility. After the event, the organizers were even more proud as the officials from the attending institutions expressed their gratitude, saying that the people with disabilities who watched the movie enjoyed it so much. Seoyon E-Hwa will continue to provide various opportunities for people with disabilities to enjoy cultural life without discrimination for their right to pursue happiness.
