Prize news Chungyun Kim, managing director, was honored with the Minister Award of Trade, Industry, and Energy for his contributions to the advancement of the automobile industry

Chungyun Kim, the managing director of the Advanced Research Group, received the "Minister Award of Trade, Industry, and Energy" for "Commendation for a person of merit in the advancement of the automobile industry" on the 16th Ulsan Automobile Day.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of 'Ulsan Automobile Day,' which was established in 2006 to commemorate the day on May 12, 1999, when the cumulative export of automobiles surpassed 10 million units. The ceremony is performed annually to acknowledge the achievements of those in the automobile sector, who has become a major pillar of the Korean economy.


The recipient of the award, managing director Kim, joined the company in 1993 and has worked for almost 29 years. After serving as a design team member and as an expatriate in India, he is now the director of the Advanced Research Group and the Productization Strategy Group. Since 2018, he has been in charge of the Advanced Research Group, where he has assisted researchers in achieving the performances such as the Excellent Paper Award of BSR Improvement research at Hyundai Motor Group(‘18.12), IR52 Jang Young Sil Award ('19.08), Grand Prize in Glass Wool Composite Resin Material Field at North America SPE Innovation ('19.11), Gold Award of the Presidential Award at the 46th national quality circle contest (‘20.11), Excellent Paper Award of BSR Improvement research at Hyundai Motor Group(‘20.12), Commissioner Award of the Korea intellectual property office at Korea invention patent competition ('20.12) and so forth, and his efforts to incorporate numerous previously developed technology in mass production were recognized as a great contribution to the automobile industry.

 

Managing director Chungyun Kim claimed that by receiving this award, he would intensify his efforts to secure and commercialize sophisticated technology by generating new future projects capable of producing results in the Advanced Research Group.
